Welcome to the website of the Zumbro Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines International, in Rochester, Minnesota. We are a women's chorus whose mission is to share our love of singing four-part barbershop harmony while providing friendship, music education, and performance opportunities for our members.

Performance Opportunity


Performance Opportunity for the Christmas Season 

with the Zumbro Valley Chorus

    Women, please join us for rehearsals during October and November and perform with the chorus on Friday, December 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. for the Wonder of the Nativity at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Saturday, December 10th, at 12:45 p.m. for the St. Pius Christmas Tea.  We will perform our Christmas music. 

   We rehearse every Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church – 222 6th Ave. SW, Rochester.  Please plan to attend at least 5 rehearsals.

Barbershop Fast Facts:


  • Barbershop harmony is harmony produced by four parts: tenor, lead, baritone and bass.

  • Barbershop music is a four-part a cappella harmony style of singing famous for its “ringing” chords in which an over tone is produced, creating the sound of a fifth note.

  • Like jazz, barbershop was born in America and remains a unique vocal music art form
